Lightlings

Once in a blue moon, citizens of Aeva watch the people of Aradeia for entertainment and choose a family that they want to bless. In order to do so, they find a family to their liking that is wishing for or expecting a child. Either they find out about a mother conceiving a child or they hear about a special item, statue or otherwise wonderful creation of a mortal that brings joy to someone. In case of the former, the child developing in its mother's womb can be blessed in one of two ways, depending on the time of day. If it's born during the day when the sun is still out, it is blessed by the beams of the sun and becomes a so-called lightling.   Lightlings are light-skinned, slightly glowing humanoids that can be born into any species of the Omni. They have either white, light blue, pale purple or light pink eyes, blush easily and have white, grey, golden, light blue or light purple hair. Easily recognisable, they are of mild temperament and have an easy-going nature. They have a talent for the arcane and healing and are often skilled musicians and artists. Parents of lightling children need to be aware of their sensitivity to sunlight as well as a decreased resistance to the effects of drugs and alcohol. Popular representatives of this species are Jaelle Siella, part of The Lovers in the Council of Aeva, as well as Helen of Corcovah who was persecuted and harrassed by the Bloodthirst King and indirect cause of the last war between elves and dwarves.   Due to their striking looks and compromised history, lightlings often keep to themselves, shadelings and gargoyles. They often live in the suburbs and outskirts of a town and prefer the night and the nightlife over the calm and gossip-filled everyday life. Most of them have friends among the elves of Sithaline that helped Helen of Corcovah hide from King Stormgard back in the day. The dwarven kingdom is still avoided by them as much as possible.
