After a week of research, I've found it. It took me an entire week and hours upon hours searching through these dusty old tomes, but I found the information I needed about her! I had the wrong name for that witch who stole my memories. She probably wanted to make sure I never found her again after what she did to me. "Shar," as if that's even a real name! She's a liar, and a thief. I only wish I would have known that from the beginning. From before... it no longer matters. That goddess real name is Elaria Duskmantle. An elven goddess of darkness and deceit. A thief of memories. She promised me she would take away the pain and loss I felt from my old life.
I just didn't realize how she would take away the pain. She steals your memories! If you "serve her well", she gets rid of your awful memories. All of the ones that remind you of the monstrous things you have done before to yourself, others, and those you care about. In her service, she calls you to do such horrific things! Things that no one should ever have to hear about, let alone actually do! After you commit these atrocities, she removes the horrific memories and allows you to delude yourself into thinking that you have done some kind of good! She makes her followers believe they are the purest and holiest of clerics! I can't remember that time myself, but I have studied the way some of these tomes speak about her. As if she is the purest of all gods, with flowery language and bardic odes to her benevolence!
No, I wanted out for some reason, I just can't remember what it was. She was displeased with me, that is for sure. When she takes the bad memories, apparently there is some cosmic filing box out there with your name on it, because she took those bad memories and shoved them all back into my skull for months! She left me an empty shell by removing my good memories, and then replaced them with a horrible memory, one by one. As soon as she saw how one memory broke me, she would give me the details of it until I was a sobbing mess. As soon as I would quit crying, or she thought I had found some peace, she would shove the next on back in and repeat the horrible description. I don't remember how long I was in her temple and at her mercy. It could have been years for all I know. I don't remember how I survived that, just that I did.
Well guess what you wretched elf succubus, I have found you again, and while I am not sure if I can kill you directly, I can find some way to remove your power. It will most likely not be anytime soon, but I will not let you keep using hurt people to commit your worst atrocities! I know who you are again, and I will find a way to remove you.
Severus Snake spent seven days immersed in the dimly lit, ancient corridors of the Great Library of Frandlyn. His scaled hands gently traced the faded spines of dusty tomes, some long forgotten by the scholars who frequented the library. The silence was thick, broken only by the occasional shuffle of pages turning, or the low hum of enchanted wards safeguarding the rarest texts. Severus' mind was focused, driven by a need to understand more about Elaria Duskmantle, the deity he once served, and the secrets she harbored within the shadows.
Each day began with him pouring over manuscripts, scrolls, and even cryptic journals written by long-dead clergy. The most illuminating moments, however, came when he ventured into the restricted section of the library. It was there, beneath layers of enchantments and layers of forgotten dust, that Severus uncovered three remarkable pieces of lore regarding Elaria Duskmantle.
1. The Forgotten Ritual of Ashen Night
Severus discovered an ancient ritual that had once been practiced by the highest-ranking priests of Elaria Duskmantle. Known as the Ritual of Ashen Night, this rite allowed the cleric to briefly plunge an entire city into total darkness, not just physically but also spiritually. It was said that under this veil, all secrets, including the most intimate and guarded, would become visible to the ritual's caster. This ritual had been banned even among Elaria’s clergy due to its destructive potential—the last time it was performed, an entire city had fallen into chaos, torn apart by the truths that surfaced from its shadows. Severus noted the materials required for the ritual, including the ashes of a devout cleric, a black diamond forged in the light of a blood moon, and a sacrificial blade etched with secrets too dangerous to speak aloud.
2. The True Nature of Elaria's Sacred Vaults
The Vaults of Duskmantle had long been whispered of as treasure troves, holding priceless relics and forbidden knowledge, guarded by Elaria’s most loyal followers. Severus learned a far more sinister truth—these vaults were not mere repositories of wealth, but prisons for entities bound by Elaria herself. These were not just powerful creatures, but ancient beings of shadow and deceit, bound by the goddess to serve her in exchange for their lives. The vaults were built not to store, but to contain these entities, and opening one would release not only whatever treasures it held, but also these twisted beings. The most terrifying revelation came when Severus read of an entity known as The Whisperer in the Dark, a creature of pure shadow whose touch could unravel the sanity of any mortal. Its prison was rumored to be hidden beneath an ancient temple in the depths of a forest north of the Wyrm Mountains, long forgotten by modern maps.
3. The Grimoire of Unspoken Hunger
Severus’ most startling find was the existence of a forbidden tome known as the Grimoire of Unspoken Hunger. This artifact was said to contain the darkest, most perilous aspects of Elaria's power. Unlike other magical grimoires, this book was not written but spoken into existence through whispers, and those who sought to read from it would be forever cursed with an insatiable hunger—either for knowledge, power, or something more primal. The book was said to contain forbidden spells that could bend reality itself, but at a great cost. Severus found records of a sorcerer who attempted to wield the Grimoire centuries ago, only to be consumed by it, leaving behind only his shadow, which still wanders the library where he had last summoned the tome in the city of Mordredia.
