The Storm King's Conquest

One serene winter afternoon, the farmers on the foothills of Tempest Reach were assaulted with stones the size of an oxe. This was followed by a vanguard of frost and storm giants descending from the mountains with war-chants on their tongues. After trampling throughout a 50 mile radius from the mountains, The Heroes of Old were called to defeat the armies of the giants. The party snuck past the giants in the night. The heroes decided that they would confront the Storm King, leader of the giants, on the matter. He was asleep in his palace. Brognar woke the giant with a headbutt to the noggin. The Storm King awoke furious at the party. The party demanded to know his intentions with the attack. The groggy giant began raving about the destiny of his people, and the reckoning of dragons. At that the party became curious why they were on the civilized races door and not seeking the dragons. The king explained how the army is to go forth and amass the wealth of their old empire. The purpose of which is to attract the dragons and begin anew the war. This time would be different as all of the giants were united. The party, knowing the dangers the chromatic dragons posed, decided to help the giants in exchange they would not harm the civilized races or their coffers. The party set about hunting the dragon nests and lairs of the world. Every dragon population they found they would signal to the giants and raid. The war roused the eldest dragon, Vol'nak, from his slumber. It was his hoard that contained the giants stolen artifacts. The party tracked his brood back to his lair at the bottom of Lake Dour. There they confronted Vol'nak and ended the legendary proto dragons reign. The dragon fell upon the shore and his corpse spawned a new village Volnak's Rest.
