Obatalá (Oh-bah-tah-la)

Overview

Obatalá is one of the oldest of all of the orisas and was granted authority to create the Malanya. He took the satchel that Olodumare had given him to aid him in creation and used it to create land on the primeval ocean. He is considered the "father" of the Orisas and created the Hikiri people from clay when the Orisas first arrived. He is orisa of purity, humanity, the sky, and the disabled.
