WorldEmber Prep 2023 - Rise of a desert kingdom
Chapter 1: AREAS OF FOCUS
So, what's going to happen in Aran'sha? For worldember, I aim not only to flesh out "Ri'kahar", my main area, with culture, cities (at least two) and some other things, there will also be the first articles of the pantheon. Last, but not least I also want to read as many entries for WE as I can and especially comment more than before - I have been doing that way less than people deserve.Chapter 2 - Mini metas and me
Oh my, thats a harder one. Lets split this into sections: The desert kingdom Ri'kahar needs some actual structure, especially organisation wise. To build that up I will start fleshing out Al'nahar, the main city and its districts (and yes, each should get its own article). Afterwards we will venture outwards, following the caravans to the next great city and touch on the landscapes they encounter. Also expect some plothooks here and there. To add to the mystical element of the world I plan to get some secrets and rumours going - I will leave it up to you to decide which are right and which are wrong As an afterthought I might also throw in some of the organisational structure of the desert kingdom - most of these are already planned or exists as stub and I think its time to flesh them out. The gods, oh the gods As mentioned, the pantheon will get its first articles and we will connect this to the cities - which gods are worshipped where and why? Before WE starts I will probably publish the pantheon overview if I get a good presentation going. Last, but not least: Category reorganisation is already underway, for now there is some work in the "The lands of Aran'sha" -> "Animals" Section, since it got a bit crowded in my little zoo (there's Beasts of the Sea for now, but Beasts of the land and sky will follow soon), but expect further changes along the road.Chapter 3 - So many things to do
Welcoming my readers - that would be you! When I first saw the homework I was like "well, that shouldn't be too hard" -but hidden under that deceptive little line was quite the challenge.I started moving some things around, added a few new fonts but quickly noticed I needed some outside perspective. So, I looked around and found someone else who needed outside perspective for a little exchange.
Enter the wonderful Catoblepon - a little brainstorming session later I had many many things I wanted to change. So, lets find out what the new design is going to look like and dive into some details:
- - A World Cover! Once it was mentioned it was obvious that I was missing a visual introduction. Now I only have to find the right picture in 1920x500. I'm excited to search for one!
- - Next in line is my introduction - the upper part is a bit of storytelling, it deserves its own style or even container.
- - Let's also look into making the book covers a bit smaller so everything fits into one nice little row - if that doesn't look good, it stays as it is.
- - The world codex is going to be hidden (I dont work with it anyways) and the recent articles will be in a neat little row under the books as shown in the graphic on the left.
- - A new and clearer background for the main page and articles - the further down you scroll on the current one, the harder to read it is.
- - And last, but definitely not least - all the category pages will receive a short excerpt introducting the category to you - that's something I should have thought of, but slipped my mind. I'm looking forward to writing those.
If you have any further ideas or suggestions, just leave me a comment and don't forget to check out Shattered by Catoblepon - its worth the visit! Also, if you did not already know about it, check out Nnie's wonderful Comment Carolers.
Chapter 4 - This is it
Worldember is approaching fast and I'm ready to start. As for last preperations, I'm creating a few more stubs , did a little cleanup of my desk and ordered a new fancy notebook worthy of Aran'sha and got a new mug ready.I'm really looking forward to my first worldember and hope you are too! With that said, I'll look forward to see all your lovely articles and stories.
May your world's embers ever glow.
Tyrdal
Hm yes, can't wait to see your cities. Sounds really good, I enjoyed the things I read already. :)
Glad you liked it, hope to have some new stuff to share soon - see you in discord!
