High Sage Zo'kar Dare

Zo'kar Dare, the esteemed Head Librarian of the Arcane Lyceum, is a figure of great reverence and importance within the institution. Holding the rank of High Sage, Zo'kar has dedicated his life to the pursuit of knowledge and the preservation of wisdom. With his dignified silver hair, which gleams like strands of moonlight, and the calm, composed demeanor of a man who has seen much and learned even more, Zo'kar embodies the very spirit of the Lyceum—a spirit that values knowledge above all else.   In his fifties, Zo'kar wears his age with pride and dignity. Each wrinkle on his face tells a story of years spent in the company of ancient tomes and forgotten scrolls. He is often seen in the grand library, moving with quiet purpose among the towering shelves, his long robes trailing behind him like the pages of a book caught in a gentle breeze. His presence commands respect, not out of fear, but out of the deep admiration that everyone at the Lyceum holds for him.   A Compassionate Scholar   Zo'kar is known for his compassion and his big heart, especially toward the bookworms of the Lyceum community. He has a particular fondness for those students who, like him, find solace and joy in the written word. To these young scholars, Zo'kar is more than just a librarian—he is a mentor, a guide, and a source of endless wisdom. He is always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it’s finding a rare text, providing insight into a difficult subject, or simply offering a kind word of encouragement.   Zo'kar’s door is always open to those who seek knowledge, and he takes great pleasure in nurturing the intellectual growth of the Lyceum’s students. He remembers the name of every student who frequents the library, and he takes a personal interest in their studies, often going out of his way to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed. His deep, resonant voice is often heard echoing through the library’s halls, engaging in spirited discussions with students about various topics, from ancient history to arcane theory.   The Wrath of a Bibliophile   However, despite his kind and nurturing nature, Zo'kar has a strict and unyielding side, especially when it comes to the care of the library’s vast collection. To Zo'kar, each book, scroll, and parchment is a precious artifact, a vessel of knowledge that must be preserved at all costs. He is known to react strongly—sometimes even fiercely—when someone mistreats a book. Whether it’s a student who carelessly dog-ears a page or someone who dares to deface a text, Zo'kar’s anger is swift and severe. His normally gentle eyes burn with an intensity that can make even the most careless student feel a deep sense of shame.   Zo'kar’s reputation for protecting the library’s collection extends to his strict policies on book returns. He is known to personally visit the dorms or homes of those who are late in returning their borrowed items, demanding the immediate return of the books in question. These visits are often unexpected and can be startling, as Zo'kar has an uncanny ability to appear at just the right moment. Despite his sternness in these matters, there is an underlying care in his actions; Zo'kar simply cannot abide the thought of knowledge being lost or neglected.   A Noble and Impossible Dream   Zo'kar Dare harbors a dream that, while noble, many would consider impossible. He wishes to collect every written book, scroll, and parchment in existence and house them within the Arcane Lyceum’s library. This goal, while daunting, is a testament to Zo'kar’s unrelenting dedication to knowledge and preservation. It is said that he has already read almost everything in the library, and his memory is as sharp as the finest quill. He can recall details from texts that even the oldest members of the Lyceum have forgotten, and his knowledge spans across all disciplines.   Under his stewardship, the library has grown to become one of the most comprehensive repositories of knowledge in the known world. Scholars and mages from far and wide come to the Lyceum just to have a chance to study within its walls, and Zo'kar takes great pride in the library’s reputation. He continues to acquire new texts and artifacts, often going to great lengths to secure rare or endangered works. For Zo'kar, the library is not just a collection of books; it is a living, breathing entity that must be nurtured and protected.   Guardian of the Arcane and the Incarcerated   In addition to his duties as the Head Librarian, Zo'kar also serves as the caretaker of the Lyceum’s magical artifacts and the custodian of its incarcerated. The library’s basement is not only home to the restricted section but also houses a vault where rare and dangerous magical items are kept. Zo'kar takes his role as guardian of these artifacts very seriously, ensuring that they are kept secure and out of the wrong hands.   The prison, hidden deep within the library’s lower levels, holds those who have been deemed too dangerous to be allowed freedom—whether they are magical beings or practitioners who have abused their powers. Zo'kar, alongside the Warden, oversees this facility with the same care and diligence he applies to the library. He views this responsibility as an extension of his duty to protect knowledge; just as dangerous books must be kept from those who would misuse them, so too must these prisoners be kept from causing harm.
