Storm Giants

The Storm Giants of Aranath, once revered as paragons of virtue and wisdom, have undergone a dramatic transformation that has reshaped their role in the world. Native to the material plane of Aranath, these giants were originally considered good-aligned, their presence a beacon of balance and justice. Their grand air castles floated majestically in the skies, symbols of their lofty ideals and dominion over the elements.   However, the cataclysmic war between the dragons marked the beginning of their decline. Amidst this great conflict, an unknown event caused the air castles of the Storm Giants to plummet from the sky, shattering their dominion and altering their fate. Stripped of their aerial strongholds, the Storm Giants fell from grace, their alignment shifting to neutral or even evil as they forged a new path driven by vengeance and ambition.   The Storm King and the Dragon War   Central to the legend of the Storm Giants is the figure of the Storm King, one of the mightiest mortal beings to have ever walked Aranath. His prowess in battle was unmatched, his strength and skill sufficient to slay even the fearsome dragons. During the height of the dragon war, the Storm King engaged in a titanic struggle with the Primordial Black Dragon, ultimately emerging victorious but grievously wounded. His final battle was against the Primordial Red Dragon, a clash of titans that ended with his demise. Though he perished, his legacy was sealed by the death of two primordial dragons at his hands.   Present Day: Power and Subjugation   In the aftermath of their fall, the Storm Giants of Aranath have carved out a new existence, marked by a relentless drive to reclaim their former glory. Utilizing their formidable intellect and magical prowess, they have developed enchanted collars capable of subjugating other giant kinds. These collars enforce unwavering obedience, allowing the Storm Giants to consolidate power over their kin. Despite this control, they harbor a deep-seated loathing for other giants, viewing them as inferior and treacherous.   Their animosity extends to elves and dwarves, whom they blame for their current plight. Above all, their hatred for dragons burns brightest, a desire for vengeance against the beings that contributed to their fall from grace.   Current Strongholds and Ambitions   While their once-majestic air castles remain grounded, the Storm Giants have not been idle. They possess a moving island, a marvel of their remaining magical ingenuity, that serves as a mobile base of operations. In addition, they have established at least one formidable stronghold within the rugged Kargathian Mountains. These bastions of power are fortified with ancient magic and guarded by enslaved giants, reflecting their determination to rebuild their dominion.   Despite their strength and resources, the Storm Giants face a significant obstacle: they lack the knowledge and means to restore their castles to the skies. This missing piece of their former grandeur is a source of frustration and a driving force behind their current agenda. Their ultimate goal is to regain the ability to fly, to once again command the heavens and restore their lost empire.   Conclusion   The Storm Giants of Aranath are a tragic and formidable race, their fall from grace transforming them from benevolent rulers to vengeful tyrants. Their history is a tale of lost glory, bitter enmity, and relentless ambition. As they strive to reclaim their place among the skies, the Storm Giants remain a potent and unpredictable force, their actions shaped by a complex blend of pride, vengeance, and an unyielding desire to restore their former majesty.
