Elves tend to be calm and contemplative. Almost to a fault. They are never quick to make any rash decisions if they feel they don't need to. Not to mention being a Race that lives longer than most other races, they view their heritage as superior to others. It is this mentality that can rub other races the wrong way for obvious reasons.
This aside Elves are quite wise and while not being the most inventive race, have a knack for refining what they do know to almost perfection. This has led to many wears from A'stalos to be esteemed as extremely valuable trading goods from merchant guilds. Even more so when trading with elves outside of basic materials is difficult.
Elves are the nobles of their home. They tend to own businesses, run the government and live luxurious lives. The lower classes while not treated badly (for the most part) the line between the elves and everyone else is painfully obvious. That being said the lower classes can still live nobly-like lifestyles, but lack any sway. Half-elves are known to become nobles based on their heritage and purity of their Elven blood. While Half-elves can become successful, they can never achieve the same status of a full blood elf. So while they are treated better than other races, the are still looked down on in some regard.
Elves are currently split on the idea of slaves. Half of the elves are not too interested in slaves as they see it as lowering themselves to the level of other races and being rather barbaric. The others see it as a valuable means to ensure labor intensive jobs are completed. While this topic has been brought up on multiple occasions it is never resolved. The basic rule is that any slave trade is to be done from outside A'stalos. Anyone with citizenship or work clearance in A'stalos deem as safe (although there are rumors of illegal slave trades within A'stalos) and cannot be forced into slavery. Any Elves who were to be caught breaking this rule would lose their noble status.
