Aetherium crystal
Properties
Material Characteristics
A large crystal structure with a faint glowing essence within.
Physical & Chemical Properties
The crystal is smooth and cool to the touch, it is safe to be altered physically however reacts strongly to arcane magic.
Compounds
The structural compound of the crystal absorbs the weight of associated connections and is now a core ingredient for making large objects float.
Geology & Geography
The original source was found in The Dragons Spine deep within what appeared to be an old abandoned Arargite mining shaft.
While many have dug into mountains seeking the crystal it appears there is also a link with Arargite ruins, making it increasingly more difficult to find.

Life & Expiration
The compound has remained stable since its finding and while extensive tests have occurred to push the limits of its weight-reversing effects, it does not appear to erode in power thus far.
History & Usage
Discovery
Found in The Dragons Spine by Ephidel Sylwiss and Nephenee Sylwiss. Initially thought to be an innate stone, it held little significance - it was only when magic was applied to the crystal did Ephidel and Naphenee begin to speculate it had a greater purpose.
The mages of Arceus Magus thought nothing of it, until Ephidel Sylwiss and Nephenee Sylwiss returned to the crypt, discovering a chamber dedicated to the application of the crystals. Here a large tome of schematics answered the agonising question of what to do with the crystals. They are anti-gravity crystals that aid in making large objects float! With this breakthrough the mages began working on smaller projects like floating rocks, then carts, ships and in final chapters the discovery of how to float an entire city. Which is how Aerilin was founded from it's original roots - when it was known as the city of Selderwin

Industrial Use
It is used in harnesses to levitate the city of Aerilin as well as in smaller harnesses to levitate skyships.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Heavily guarded by the Tsari people. They happily acquire as much of this material as they can and pay handsomely for any deposit locations that they are able to extract it from.
Storage
While innate it is perfectly safe to move around in any form, however, when infused with arcane energy it must be chained within a nullifying grid but it is rare to be activated without being chained to a structure.
Law & Regulation
The Tsari regard this as their greatest finding and while they cannot outlaw anyone else from obtaining the crystal they fiercely guard the activation process that allows the crystal to make large structures float.
