Belle of the Fest

Misty Marten was regarded as one of the prettiest, smartest, and nicest maidens in Wamper's Feast prior to the Shifting. The only child of Dorothy 'Dotty' Marten, the Marten landholder, Misty was destined to inherit a substantial acreage of productive agricultural land. Under normal circumstances, she'd have gained a respectable city education, attended etiquette and finishing school, travelled locally to meet suitors, and settled into a life of farm management. Misty was expected to become a prominent member of the Wamper's community....

Protector of the Glade

... and did, though not in a way anyone could have fortold. Misty is regarded as the herald of the Dormant Generation, those who have grown into adolescence since the Shifting to reveal a hidden heritage or power. Unlike other of the Dormant Generation, who are often imperiled by the change, her transformation saved her life.
During the Shifting, Misty was in the company of Darton Stilts, an itinerant farm-hand, who secretly worked for the Kalie, a junior member of The Court of Eyes. Misty was captured by the Kalie and ingested the poisonous gas spores created by the Kalie, intended to scarifice the townsfolk of Wamper's Feast to feed her hungry power.
While rescued by the First Cohort, they were unable to restore Misty and she lasped into a coma. In response, her dormant heritage reasserted itself, transforming her into Corrupted Dryad. Unlike other Corrupted creatures, Misty retained her sense of self and established her own grove within Wamper's.

Mentor to the Changed

Misty's grove attracted other young dryads who work to maintain the town's perimeter from the ever-encroaching jungle. In addition, Misty pays particular attention to the young of Wamper's, seeking to mentor any who exhibit similar changes that she experienced. For the most trusted among her charges, she instructs them in enchanting, often producing implements of an offensive nature to best protect her home town. While her fellow enchanter Tall Balrama pursues defence through awareness and political influence, Misty remains an pragmatic pracitioner, improving her skills should the need to arm Wamper's come again.

A forgotten heritage

Over time, likely by design, the legend of the town's founder Wamper Marten emphasised certain aspects of his remarkable life and downplayed other key facts. Chief amongst the forgotten facts was the Child of the Fae for whom Wamper was sire.
Over the ensueing generations, the Marten's fae ancestry fell from fact to myth to whispers, even among the family itself. Whether this secretive approach played a role in dampening their power remains unknown, but by the time of Dotty Marten, some twenty generations later, their fae heritage was near-dormant, reduced to an uncanny affinity with the weather and impressive agricultural skills.
While the town forgot, the Marten's harboured a deep sadness for their founding ancestor. For a man eager to belong to the fae, its ironic Wamper was the only member of his family whose heritage remained solely, mundanely, human.
