Dwarf

A long-lived species of relativly short and stout humanoids. Their compact, stocky bodies tend to be dense with muscle and mean they can be extrodinarily tough. They favour long, flowing beards and like to decorate them with braids and jewlery.
As the world forest grew, they retreated to mountain holds that were carved deep underground, unfortuetly, these were no match for the powerful questing roots of the margical trees that grew down to destroy the dwarven holds as readily as the bodies of the forest did on the surface.
