Mechanics & Inner Workings

Each stone gives off a unique, thaumatagical ressonance that can be located anywhere in tbe world. When a specially made compass is atuned to a particualar stone (or a treated fragment of it) then the needle will always point straight at that stone, allowing navigation back to the location of the stone or, when combined with a magnetic compass and maps, to chart ways to other local landmarks

History

No one can tell where the first stones came from, if they predated the World Forest or were made in the years following its growth but they have proven invaluable for hundreds of years since

Significance

Without the magic of the Lodyss, navigation through the forsst would be all but impossible, especially for most common folk, traders and merchants. The existance of the stones allows people to find each other and to explore and survive in the forest longer than they otherwise could
