Inhonoris

The oldest city on the continent of Aporea. Its stone buildings contain the solemn weight of their age but also show the care that has been put in to preserve and restore them to pristine condition. The city and its people exude pride and beauty but also great sadness from everything that has been lost. Though the buildings are kept as close to when they were originally built, the society within is slowly but surely changing.

Government

Inhonoris is run by a council of ten members that have been voted in by the population. The council always contains five nobles and five commoners. Voting takes place once per century.

Defences

The city is surrounded by a tall, thick stone wall that is strengthened by magic. Some people say that the magic is so strong that it has been placed there by Corellon themself.

History

Inhonoris was the first known settlement during the Age of Parting. The high elves created a kingdom named Nyhem, which later became Yraldrig under a human rule, and started building Inhonoris to serve as its capital. It was modelled after what they remembered of the cities before the Parting when they lived side by side with their gods.

Architecture

Everything in Inhonoris is built with beauty in mind. The buildings are tall, often with spires and towers and arches. They are often painted in rich colours but in a way that is pleasing to the eye. Most popular are blue, yellow and red but there are a multitude of variations. The roofs of the houses are of black or red tile.   The streets are paved with stone, varying in colours to make it easy to know which street you are currently walking on. The main street running through the entire city is paved with black stones that look like they glitter with flecks of silver when light hits them, creating a sense that you are walking on a night sky.   Many of the houses are decorated with murals depicting things both from history and fiction. Reliefs and etchings are often inlaid with precious gems and metals.   There are hardly any blocks in the city without at least a small park or plaza with water fountains and small shrines to the elven gods. As such lush green trees compliment the rich colours of the surrounding buildings. Gardens have flowers all year around with magic protecting them from ever experiencing a cold winter.
