Yraldrigan "Half-breeds"
In the country Yraldrig half-elves, half-orcs, and tieflings are referred to as half-breeds. It is believed that a mixed heritage can't lead to a full person. They are sometimes called "half-souls" or abominations because of this belief. These are obviously all deeply derogatory terms that shouldn't be used at all but are unfortunately normalised in the entirety of Yraldrig.
Because they aren't seen as being actual people like elves and humans, they don't have the same rights as them. A "half-breed" can't own a house or run a business. In order not to be homeless a "half-breed" must either find work for a place of business that provides lodging, or become a servant in a home. They don't receive nearly as much pay as others in most cases and they often have to work a lot harder.
In some parts of Yraldrig it's quite popular for rich families to own "half-breeds" as "pets". Tieflings are particularly popular for this purpose as they are the most rare and difficult to acquire, with half-orcs being a close second. In the same vein, there are secretive brothels that are only known to a certain circle with very selective invitations where there are only "half-breed" prostitutes.
Although these are the beliefs that everyone in Yraldrig grows up with, there are people who look at the rest of the world and the "half-breeds" they know and question their treatment. More and more uprisings are happening as groups are forming around the country to help half-elves, half-orcs and tieflings get equal rights and be acknowledged as people. This is a fight that half-elves, half-orcs and tieflings have been fighting for many years but they are often kept separated, forbidden from talking to each other and brainwashed into believing that they are not people.
