Magilights
The stars that dot the streets of the Kingdom.
A Magilight, Orbed Lighting or simply Bulbed Light is a small orb of bright light used in most cities and settlements in the Kingdom of Crendameth. The light they give off is approximately the same that a lit torch would, yet gives off no heat and is usually white in color, but are known to come in different variations. The lights themselves are intangible pieces of magic affixed to one location equivalent to a torch's sconce, normally called wallrings, which consist of an iron strip in the shape of a flat ring with an extension that allows it to be hammered into a wall.
The invention and subsequent implementation of Magilights in the majority of occupied towns, villages and cities replaced the need for torches and torch-lighters, leading to a series of protests originating in the Duchy of Odykos during the year 4 AE, known as The Torchlight Revolts.

Utility
The main use of Magilights is to illuminate the streets and indoors of the settlements that use them. They can also be used as a form of decoration upon altering its colors to best suit the user's interest or needs.
Although very stable, a low number of instances have been known to flicker on and off or start fading after time. The explanation for such anomalies boils down to errors during its creation or impurities in the glass used to affix them.

Manufacturing
To manufacture a Magilight, one first needs an orb of glass produced with the crystals found by Duke Mystan, which are mined from several different mountain ranges in Adyma. it has been noted that the most efficient method to do so is to manufacture the orb using glassblowing techniques directly on to the crystals, while most other ways of production mix crushed crystals with sand before turning it into glass.
After obtaining the sphere, it is placed inside the wallring where it is to be affixed. Over the course of the next four hours, a magic user casts and sustains a light cantrip inside the glass. Both the natural magic of the glass and the continued use of the spell ensure that the light will keep on glowing after the spell's duration has long passed.
Several experiments determined that the magic wears of quickly or outright does not work is the glass is mass-produced using item duplication spells, though the exact reason is yet to be determined.

Access & Availability
Magilights are a commonplace item found throughout the kingdom. As decreed by Elmeyon Crendameth during the first year of his reign, this invention would be given freely to all the settlements as a show of good faith to his subjects in the transition period after his rebellion successfully ended.
Complexity
Magilights are simple by design, requiring only a glass casing while the light is affixed to its respective wallring.
Discovery
Magilights themselves are an application of sustained magic. After Kriv Mystan assumed the reign over the Duchy of Rhine, he proposed the idea of a continual, natural light source that would need little to no maintenance for it to operate. This idea was birthed while exploring the mountain ranges of the Adyma Dominion before Elmeyon's Rebellion, wherein he discovered naturally occurring crystals that would glow upon being disturbed by an outwards mechanical force.
