The Brain Pan spell causes the Subject to suffer from intense headaches and migraines. Waves of Death Source buffet the mind, causing stinging tears to swell in the subject's eyes as pulses of pain are focused on the subject's skull. Suffering from this spell makes it difficult to concentrate, causing those it affects to require greater effort to concentrate or focus. Subjects that suffer from this spell find it difficult to cast magic and take sight-based penalties.

Effect

A Brain Pan spell draws from the Death Source to inflict physical and mental pain on the Subject. Waves of wracking pain are concentrated on the Subject's skull. If the Subject rolls a Proficiency check and passes, then the Subject can't be the target of another Brain Pan spell by the Caster until the end of the encounter.

If the Subject fails the Proficiency check, then it immediately takes 1 point of Psyche damage. The Subject restores any Psyche damage caused by this spell at the end of the spell's duration.

For each round that the subject suffers from the Brain Pan spell, they are considered "half-blind", receiving a -2 penalty to attack rolls (-4 ranged) and Proficiency checks that require sight. In addition, it requires greater concentration to cast magic or to focus on Proficiency checks that demand the Subject's attention. The Subject is considered "distracted" and must roll accordingly when attempting to cast magic under this spell. Proficiency checks that require concentration also take -2 to the Proficiency check.

The spell lasts for 1 round per the Caster's Psyche Modifier and deals 1 HP damage the first round and every odd round afterwards.

Side/Secondary Effects

This spell is a "Negative" condition and as such, is placed upon the Stack. This spell doesn't layer "blind" effects; other "blind" or "half-blind" conditions have priority over Brain Pan.
