Buniru

... bearers of strife, snow-hill orphans; the denizens of the Ice Age's icy dens!

Buniru are long-eared, bi-pedal, mammalian omnivores resembling small rabbits. A Buniru has black nails, a long, fluffy tail and cloven hooves. Originating beyond the Dungeons during the Ice Age of the Mythic Epoch, they inhabit elaborate den villages, protected from the cold by their valuable downy fur. Despite their sentience, Buniru faced persecution, often forced into servitude to the other primitive, sentient Cultures.

The Bunny Revolts marked their fight for independence, leading them to rural den-villages where they thrive using magic and ambush tactics. Though accepted in Pathon, they still struggle to separate from their Baomen enemies. Hunted for their miraculous fur and meat, the Buniru faced enemies both in the wilds of Pathon to the villages and Civilizations that arised.

Buniru

Buniru fur is soft and warm, providing insulation; their coloration is diverse, ranging from reds to browns, white, or black. Even saturated colors have appeared amongst the later Buniru. Their eye color is often a golden yellow, though red, blue, and green mutations have occured. These creatures are short and slender, ranging from 3.5 to 5 UN in height.

About Buniru

The Buniru are believed to be the children of Mara Bao though this remains unproven. It is widely accepted that they emerged from the Dungeons, but their exact origins are unknown, even to themselves.

Due to their association with the Dungeons and Baomen, the Buniru have faced persecution throughout the Ages. The spell Conscript was used to enslave them, making them couriers and laborers capable of swiftly navigating the frozen expanse or working in the cold fields. Their tails and cloven hooves make them adept climbers, scaling mountains and crevices others would never attempt.

Coveted for their warm fur, the Buniru were treated as commodities, valued as much as livestock, despite their sentience. They were forced to flee enchantment, living in burrows and slopes outside of city walls.

Conscript- Sheared Tail

It wasn't until the Bunny Revolts that these practices were condemned, as the Buniru fought for independence from both Mortals and the Baomen.

Choosing to live in rural den-villages, the Buniru have largely abandoned larger civilizations. They defend their communities with adept magic and agile ambush tactics, protecting themselves from great threats.

Though now an accepted culture in Pathon, the Buniru still struggle to distance themselves from the Baomen, who remain their enemies. Often seen as scavengers and thieves, they possess items either given to them or stolen. By adopting the clothes and traditions of other cultures, they managed to integrate into some societies, finding refuge when accepting local customs, serving the community.
Despite adversity, folk heroes and the Bunny Revolts helped the Buniru defeat the allegations of being Mara Bao's children. In the Cloudburst Age, they became unlikely allies to the Aelves, Mythos Folk, and Proto-Mortals of the Mythic Epoch, earning their autonomy and Cultural respect. Of these, Myst Folk later revered the Buniru as relatives of the Moon Goddess, Mystendr, securing their place in Pathon.
"It's rather rude to call a Buniru by anything but name! To refer to Buniru as rabbits or squirrels or anything else is slanderous! -
