Coat of Consensus

Winters were the harshest in the Ice Age. They could come early and last through entire seasons, blanketing the land in blizzards. There wasn't always a shelter from these storms, but there were communities of Mystomythian Folk, and a tradition amongst them, known as the Coat of Consensus. With permission from another, a village gathered together beneath the poles of a tapestry covered tent, and when the night came, the poles were released, dropping the cloth and spreading its warmth and cheer to the willing recepients.

The Coat of Consensus was a tent covering that held deep folds and pockets, weighted with stones full of enchanted warmth. Created with Icing Silk coated with Liquid Ice, this material absorbed the cold, repelled moisture, and created a warm atmosphere beneath it's weighted press. Sleeping through the night, the dreamers could rest peacefully beneath the snow, knowing that when they awoke, their friends and family would still be beside them. This practice continued amongst village Folk, becoming a favorite nightly tradition of their Culture. There is an enchantment of the ritual which causes Communal Dreaming.

The Community Dream: Prophecy of the People

At times during the restful sleep of the dreamers caught between the land and the Coat of Consensus' warm embrace, their Dreams meld together, creating a Communal Dream. Together, those who sleep beneath the enchanted cloak or communal blankets fold their dreams into weaving and discussion for the next day.

This special tradition was often shared with those who had high affinities for Source, allowing the Folk to explore Magic in the communal dream.
