Dragon Turtle
The Dragon Turtle is a large, reptilian creature that resembles the animals of the same name. A large, thick carapace formed of plated scales rises high above its head. Stout, sturdy limbs tipped with sharp, webbed claws are able to claw into rock and burrown into the earth, where it dwells. Sometimes these sleeping creatures will hibernate within their shells for hundreds of years before moving once again. This is thought to be the reason why they have survived throughout the Eras.
The Dragon Turtle, or Drakis Arqon Cope, is the scientific name for the common Dragon Turtle. Of the main species of Dragon Turtle, there are 2 sub-species- the Dragon Tortoise and the Dragon Snake Turtle.
The Dragon Tortoise, or Drakis Nobilis Shale, is a land dwelling amphibious species that is able to survive harsh terrains. Rugged scales forms a triangular shell on the back of the tortoise, protecting it from potential harm. Dragon Tortoise has crushing claws and a snapping bite.
The Dragon Snake Turtle, or Drakis Chromas Reber, is a wetland dwelling turtle that spends most of its time underwater. While it doesn't have the powerful crush of other Dragon Turtles, it has a long neck that extends and contracts from the shell. The shell forms an oval- structure that makes the turtle quite hydrodynamic.
Dragon Turtles are commonly studied for their associations to Dragons, as the D. A. Cope is believed to be the ancient ancestor of Dragons. The sub-species disappeared before the end of the Saurian Era, leading many to believe this theory.
