Plop Goop

"I'm about to head over there now."

The Inspector examined the rack of myriad colored vials. One of the vials was marked, "Specimen: JC#42". "I can comm you when I get there. Is this the specimen I sent you earlier today?" The Coroner didn't turn his attention from his chart as the Inspector lifted a red vial from the rack. The murky red contents seemed to peer through the vial.

"Yes, I-" Coroner LaCross looked up, "Hey! Careful, Jakl!" The contents of the vial blinked, nearly startling Inspector Court into dropping the vial before he replaced it on the rack. The Inspector shrugged.

Caven scolded Jakl, "Plop Goop. Whoever used that knew what they were doing- unlike some of us..."

Plop Goop is a red, sticky substance with a sterile odor. It is kept in a special container that has been laced with a reagent to prevent the liquid from sticking. Plop Goop is the byproduct of the Amorpho Blup species of Ooze.

Known commonly as the Plop, this species of Ooze has developed a scarlet-red gland for transmitting a terrible illness.

Mechanics & Inner Workings

First, the Plop Goop is applied (usually through a tube, applicator, or vial drip), onto a surface. Those who come into contact with the surface for the next 2 hours may contract the Slimy Sickness disease. Once it has incubated, those under the effects of this disease must make Vitality checks per round or suffocate. Upon their Death, a new Plop is born, which then feasts on the host's blood.

Manufacturing process

A specially prepared vial is used to keep the liquid from sticking within. Plop Goop is extracted from creatures of the Amorpho Blup species of Ooze. Failure to safely extract Plop Goop exposes the one that attempted to Slimy Sickness.

History

Plop Goop has been suspected in assassinations. Important officials will complain of the symptoms only to die hours later from its rapid effect. Plop Goop can discretely be places on objects to cause this debilitating condition, though the applicant must take precaution to avoid contracting the contragion themselves.

"He ignored the Coroner's remarks, "The victim's blood was contaminated?" The Inspector was reminded of the crime scene.
"Yes. Your victim died by an Ooze. This is a nasty symptom of that attack- or a calling card." Caven stared directly into Jakl's eyes, a solemn expression for the Coroner. "Don't get yourself into a sticky situaton."

Inspector Court checked the time on his WAIV. "I won't know until I get there."

Significance

Plop Goop has been used in the rituals that create a Slime Mark. A special condition uncommonly contracted after exposure to the Slimy Sickness, the Slime Mark leaves a distinctive scar that occasionally oozes. Bearers of the Scar have their own ritualistic meanings and color associations for bearing the Scars.
