Cleric
Clerics are formal members of various established religious organizations. While their roles may differ between various orders, in general they preside over specific sacred rituals and are the authority to teach their beliefs and doctrines to others. Their connection to the sacred and divine makes them essentially spellcasters that perform thaumaturgy through their faith made manifest.
Career
Qualifications
Clerics have to dedicate themselves to learning the dogma of their belief system and prove their faith in ways specific to their particular religious order.
Other Benefits
Clerics typically enjoy a sense of spiritual fulfillment by belonging to something bigger than themselves.
Perception
Purpose
Clerics have a goal to live out their lives in service to a higher power and teach others about their own experience, often converting others to their lifestyle. Such commitment is rewarded by their faith channeling magic power from their deity, divine presence in the world or even their personal faith as thamaugury or miracles. Their magic generally requires them to stick to a certain doctrine to access it, but usually comes with less of a price or chance of backfiring like some mages might experience. Clericial spells often focus on healing, ally buffs, and foe debuffs similar to Curates but they are offensively effective against "unholy" enemies such as demons and undead.
Operations
Tools
While various clerics use a variety of items based religious and cultural preferences or restrictions, clerics will almost universally use sacred and blessed tools and weapons. Ecclesiastic clerics typically wield scepters that channel their powers.
Provided Services
Clerics provide spiritual services to those who seek it and help those they see going on a troubled path towards a more moral one. Clerics can also heal those when medics and curates are not available, especially physical damage such as wounds and fractures. Clerical orders are generally the main source of blessed items where divine magic can be handled by others temporarily.
