Artifices

Artifices are objects or tools with enough magic power to be used for, well magical effects. Some objects innately store large amounts of magic power (natural artifices) or are deliberately be charged with external magic, an act called consecration (crafted artifices).  

Access and Availability

  In modernity, artifices have become an increasingly useful subset of technology, especially within the higher income nations. In these places, there are occupations for those who make artifices called arcanists.  

Utility

  The most important aspect to consider when looking at the difference in standard technology and artifices is that they are fueled by some form of magical energy or it is something that uses magic to operate. Another difference between regular magic and artifices is that fundamentally, an artifice is usable by anyone regardless of their magical knowledge or ability to use magic.
