Chimera Beasts

Chimera Beasts are mysterious monsters living on the outskirts of Gate and Kuroi. They lived for as long as the demons were born and they were considered enemies to all races including demons (and their descendants, the Umbra) due to their ability to drain all kinds of aura from all sentient beings.   They are often the main targets of the Arcana Adventurer's Guild's quests and Protector Union missions due to their migrations and hunting instincts often the main cause of several incidents in nearby cities and towns.

Basic Information

Anatomy

True to their name, the Chimera Beasts are mixed between two to three existing animals, most of them are carnivores and aggressive animals such as lions, tigers, and wolves. Two common traits of all of the beasts are their crossed scar-like birthmark and dark aura patches around their bodies.

Ecology and Habitats

Most of the beasts live on the outskirts of any civilization of Gate and Kuroi due to their fear not only of the lights emitted from the streetlights and flames but also of the barrier set up through the city or town's defense systems. Due to this, most of them often hunt in some villages or towns with limited defense systems or only guards as their defenses.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Chimera Beasts survive by draining other living species' aura, though some are also carnivores. They have no preference for a type of aura, causing them to include demons and Umbra as their prey. While most of the beasts have the intelligence of a normal animal, some beasts who have decent intelligence often use stealth to ambush their breath.

Additional Information

Average Intelligence

The Chimera Beasts are mostly animalistic by nature and are very territorial with other species. Their indomitable nature and blood lust are nearly untameable by summoners and tamers. In some sub-species, they possess some intelligence with a few cases giving them the ability to speak our language.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Most of the Chimera Beasts' abilities are varied depending on their sub-species. However, they share a common ability to manipulate the elements the same way as Mages would in the form of spells. The only limit that each of the sub-species can only manipulate one element. Thus their weakness are more or less the same as their element possessed.
