The Bloodless Skirmish of Gate

The Bloodless Skirmish was a 2-day conflict that occurred in the country of Gate where its rival country of Opprimere attempted to stage a coup after the Rune Masquerade's inception. Notably, it's one of the few events that was publicly known to have Armand Colby participating as the leader of one side of the conflict. It is also notable to be the first bloodless conflict due to Armand's unique strategies and defenses against Opprimere.

The Conflict

Prelude

During the Rune Masquerade's inception, the military country of Opprimere initially approved its creation feeling it might benefit from their relationship with Gate and Queen Himura herself. But the Himura monarchy and Riyoku's party grew suspicious of their agreement due to their history and their past attempted invasions of Himura's country, Hakumei along with their illegal trafficking of otherworldly supernatural creatures such as the monsters of Midgard and Pokemon.   In early June, Opprimere's military leader, Rigid organized a special conference between his country and Gate to offer them a peace treaty, which was supposed to repair their strained relations along with Hakumei. However, it was revealed by two of Riyoku's friends, Eran and Cai, that Opprimere planned to stage a coup against Gate by invading Arcanum City and taking it over under their country. With this realization, the newly-formed Rune Council discussed this realization, and Armand Colby not only volunteered to defend the city as a strategist, but he came up with a plan to ensure that Opprimere won't harm both Gate and Hakumei ever again.

Battlefield

At the start of the peace conference, Armand participated there as a representative of Riyoku's party along with Queen Himura, an Opprimere representative, and Dallas, one of the Rune Council. While the conference proceeded as normal, Dallas and Armand were locked in a political debate regarding their views on freedom and order.   As they suspected, a large army from Opprimere arrived in Arcanum City armed with swords, spears, and muskets with the frontliners arriving first to the central district. But before they could fire a shot or announce their intentions to take over, the frontliners were ambushed by Queen Himura's shadows with the help of Tai and Allie, two of Riyoku's partymates. After the ambush, the rest of the army arrived and they were attacked by the Hakumei arcane army and the group of adventurers and protectors.   By the time Dallas learned this, Armand revealed that not only did they learn of the country's attempt to invade the city and his betrayal to support Opprimere, but he had Riyoku and the other party members snuck into Opprimere's central city, Castellum to not only incapacitate his army but to gather evidence of his illegal trafficking along with plans to stage another coup in Hakumei when they succeed with their invasion on Arcanum City. And to ensure that he won't repeat this ever again, Armand used his possessed powers to trap Dallas in his comatose-like dream as punishment for his betrayal and other sinful actions. Additionally, Queen Hakumei made a condition that if the country ever attempted to attack her country along with Gate, they would not hesitate to strike back with Riyoku and Armand at the helm.   Because of this, the Opprimere retreated and the skirmish ended without any casualties on both sides.

Aftermath

Because of Armand's intervention, Opprimere stopped their invasion attempts in both Gate and Hakumei and due to Queen Himura's conditions, they were unable to visit the country for 10 years until the next peace conference. As for Dallas, he remained in his coma state until he woke up a month after the skirmish. He resigned from his Rune Council position and no one knew what happened to him ever since he left the public eyes.   Due to Armand's role as a strategist in the skirmish, he became well-known to the Arcanum City public alongside Riyoku and was given the nickname, the "Unbound Specter" for his mysterious dark abilities and his manipulative strategies that led to the successful defense against Opprimere.
