Fredwalds Arcana Lexica: The Basis

So I keep getting the question, what is arcana. What is the base for magic and what differentiates the schools from one another. The answer is to wide to explain on just a few pages to lets go over the basis. Magic is inherently the weaving of laws that dictate reality. Just like energy, you can never destroy or create magic. You can only bend, change and utilize magic to destroy and create, just like each stone on a keep requires to be broken from rock, before shaped together into mighty construction.   On the outer scale of magic, we can see four different types that work by a basis of an X and Y axis. The X axis is considered the scale between Natural and Unnatural while the Y axis is between Order and Chaos.   The three most common types of magic is hence known as Occultism, the far out left field X axis of unnatural magics. Mysticism as the art of nature, found far out right in the X field. Lastly you have Magitech which is an equilibrium of the natural and unatural, purposefully mixing technology and magic through mortal order. Found far northwise on our Y axis. Lastly, we have the far out southward Y axis. The equilibrium of unatural and natural combined by chaos itself. Eldritch.   So, now that we have the boring deffinitions out there, lets go into a bit further depth of these four cathegories.
  • Occultism
The art of the unnatural, or supernatural perhaps. Occultism mixes a lot of spiritualism and can be lazily summed up into magic wielded from deities, both of holy and just to those cruel and sinister. It also involves talking to ghosts, wielding shadows and powers of the mind, demonic arts such as seduction or wielding hellfire and summoning. Must not forget summoning.
  •
  • Mysticism
Mysticism is the arts of nature. The wielding of elemental magics, wonders of nature, miracle workings and even the skills and abilities of beasts, such as transforming into a bear. It also closely connects certain sciences, such as bending wavelengths of sound, light and even magnetical and geometrical elements. One such example being levitation.
  •
  • Magitech
Magitech is perhaps the most versatile cathegory of magic that exists. It combines both elements of Occultism and Mysticism but is forced to comply to creations of mortal races, through the arts of technology. Both arts such as runecrafting, alchemy and reliquary are large schools within the Magitech industry that never has gone out of the times.
  •
  • Eldritch
These arts consist of foul combinations between natural, unatural and pure chaos. It's when inanimate objects start to grow flesh and organs, where the dead once more rises in new, horrific shapes. Everything that is real, though it has no right to be, is Eldritch.
Now, with that out of the way, which art of magic would you like to know more about?
