Notes from a Diestrian Nightwatcher
“Sure they might look terrible at first, what with their claws ‘n teeth ‘n glowin’ eyes. Truth is them Gorlark bastards ain’t much more than pushovers. You put a boot right where the snout oughta be ‘n they’ll be crawlin’ back to the filthy rivers what spawned them.”
Anatomy
The Gorlark looks visually like the horrid malformation of a frog combined with an alligator, having a snoutless croc-like maw with sharp teeth and none of the bite force that the reptile would have. Its head features two dark almost emberlike eyes with two small slits which go for a nose. The tongue is also a long and extendible organ, just like that of a frog, as well as a highly sensitive and weak limb to attack.
The scaly body of the Gorlark stands just shy above a meter tall with bent frog-like knees and padded waddling feet carrying four claws, just like the hands which are attached on arms long enough that if the creature would stand up straight, they would scrape against the floor.
The inner composition of the creature carries an almost humanoid organ anatomy, covered by a large ribcage with a mass of smaller almost fishlike bones holding together the mass, due to a low amount of muscularity with 80% of it being found in the legs.
The lungs and air-bubble stand out most, as the creature can breathe both beneath and above the waves. Carrying both gills and a special pair of lungs that can change the air intake based on land or sea. The bubble is also connected to these lungs, as the creature can fill it up with extra air to inflate and make itself float. Allowing for swift ascent and descent into the abyss.
Behaviour
While the upfront appearance of the Gorlark might terrify the weak of heart, this creature is little else than a mindless meatbag in servitude of the Glôh'krakh forces. They are souless amalgamations that feed on decay and abyssal corruption. Utilized mainly as workers within the Glôh'krakh society and as cannon fodder to charge down and die en-masse to spread sickness and sow poor morale against their enemies while also draining them dry of munitions.
They are most infamously utilized as a terror weapon wielded by Biosplicers to strike from shores and rivers in the middle of night, to drag innocent souls unable to defend themselves into the depths.
