The energies are different, always moving and always twisting in it’s chaos. Yet the energies are unseen by the veiled eye.
Like it’s colours, one requires the right lense to see the hues and shapes. This lense isn’t directly some glasses, but rather the mind that allows one to see them. Therefor, the energies are different to each and every person.
Physical & Chemical Properties
It’s this ultimate difference in how it reacts from mind to mind, that gives the energy it’s powers and potential. It can be a spark of fire, a touch cold as ice, the change of the wind or raw power crashing from the skies. It is what makes it mystic. Unless set in a rune, each person wields the power from their own very souls, which manifests the energy in different ways.
A noble soul for example, is likely to conjure a flame of gold, while one who is wise brings a flare of blue.
Compounds
What do the energies come from though. They are not exactly a thing that is just created from nowhere, instead like all sorts of energy, it's not destroyed but changed.
The energy is taken from surroundings and wielded by willpower. As for fire, it can’t just be created by a snap of fingers, unless a burning candle is held in the other hand. Though it is fully possible to use the energy from the body as well, without a surrounding source, it can cause mystical withdrawal.
This is the reason why mysticans have runes often painted, sometimes even carved into their bodies. The energy draws from the existence of nature itself, and a creature's life force is pure fuel to the powers.
History & Usage
History
The energies have not always existed like they do nowadays. They originate from a mirroring realm that balance out the physical worlds, and used to require gateways to let the energy flow into the world.
Since then, it’s always been a part of civilization, a force that shapes the very culture and ways of life.
Discovery
It’s believed to have been first discovered by an ancient culture, about 30.000 or so years ago. Likely, an old philosopher went deep enough into his own inner thoughts, to realize the veil between the two existences.
Everyday use
The energies are used daily, by everyone. Even if they don’t want to acknowledge reality, each time someone eats, they are undergoing a change of energy transferred from the proteins from the food that fuels their power to keep going on their daily business. The energy is that simple, but it’s also complex enough to change the very laws of nature, with enough power.
Cultural Significance and Usage
The energies are also used by various groups for different purposes. Heating up cold buildings in chilly climates, increasing beauty with colourful flames and making walls more durable are but common cultural usages.
Others span making entire buildings fly or having a policy that each ship or military unit carry some form of rune on them. In short, the energies are part of what shapes society.
Hazards
Wild energies are not to be taken lightly and seen as a perfect force of good. It’s nature can be incredibly destructive and machines that run on it could explode in the force of tens of thousand grenades.
Trying to channel to much of it may even end up with the caster discarding themselves from reality.
Both of these accidents can have catastrophic consequences on the world, in terms with the veins of discord.
Soul energy
As an energy empowered by the very soul, a person's traits affect it greatly, both in colour and effect. Golden: A noble soul, often very proud and dedicated to a cause. This energy is generally wielded by peace and justice, and thus has an increased calming effect on people they love, and an increased painful effect on people they hate. Orange: A warm and enthusiastic soul, usually giving and protective. This energy accelerates fast and is extra effective in combating other mysticisms and shielding people from harm. Red: A soul with a hot temperament and powerful will. These people generally don’t have the patience for mysticism, but unintentionally wield it through their own willpower and determination, causing them to pull off almost impossible physical prowess at moments. Blue: A wise soul with a calm and logical mind. This energy is the simplest to bend and shape, while also being the one that flows the best and easiest. Thus it’s the one with best accuracy and range Green: A wild and natural soul, they are unparalleled in the deepest woods and best at using the energies created in plantlife to do their bidding. They seem to gain a resistance against substances as well. Yellow: An energetic soul with swift feet and even faster thought process. These individuals are not often the sharpest tool in the shed, yet they are often incredibly charismatic and make for great celebrities. Naturals at arts like drawing and composing music. Black: A dark and chaotic soul that is often wrongly affiliated with wickedness and cruelty. In truth, these people are very gentle and empathic, yet their loving nature often end up leaving them harmed and lonely, and thus they can at times unleash nightmarish wrath. Purple: A secret and mysterious soul that draws power from their incredible capabilities of deduction and problem solving. These people have somehow balanced rationality and spirituality with perfect harmony. They see the world in a different lense than most and have the best perception. Silver: A strict and firm soul. The people who bear this mark are often perfectionists and great at handling their own. They tend to be competent at more or less anything, even more so than the majority of people. They do however suffer at any form of teamwork and make for horrible companions. Light: An empty and innocent soul. To the difference of the other ones, it’s in reality colourless and brims with untapped power that exceeds all the other forms of energy. Nobody wields it though, as only the newborn carries it. It should be said, that these colours can change just as a person develops and loses old traits for the better or worse. They can also vary in different shades and feed the theory that every sentient being has their own unique appearance.
