Lizardfolk
Humanoid reptilians covered head-to-toe with scales. Lizards the size of men walking upright with an intelligence that counters humans.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Very akin to humans, but covered in scales. Lizardfolk have tentacle-like appendages that grow from their head that is much like human hair. Their heads are like that of a lizards, with much variation from the flatter face of an iguana to the slender snout of a monitor.
Their hands and feet each only have four digits each, and their ears are merely holes in the sides of their head.
Lizardfolk have softer, more fleshly underbellies and have tails with varying lengths and widths. Some lizardfolk have small spines or fins protruding from their backs.
Genetics and Reproduction
Female Lizardfolk lay eggs rather than give birth to live young. The eggs are laid approximately a month after mating and will hatch around 2 months later.
Growth Rate & Stages
The younger years on average will have more shed cycles and require more food-to-weight in order to grow. Around ~20 years is when their growth rate rapidly declines and their shed cycle becomes much more infrequent. Lizard folk will often reach ~185 cm/6'1" by age 25, and will continue to grow with some reaching taller than 2m/6'7"!
Ecology and Habitats
Lizardfolk commonly enjoy a warmer temperature than most, around 25°C
but it is not uncommon for them to be found around murky swamps or cool jungles depending on preference and race.
Dietary Needs and Habits
While omnivorous in nature, individuals vary with their preference in taste. They often will eat very large meals, about a fourth of their weight, which will easily sustain them for a week's time or more.
Biological Cycle
In order to grow, lizardfolk must shed their skin. Their eyes will turn milky at first, and afterwards their whole bodies will have a light gray tint. Shedding itself only takes several minutes but can be prolonged due to common illnesses. Although not necessary, lizardfolk have the ability to enter brumation to avoid harsh weather if they have sufficient shelter and water supply.
Additional Information
Facial characteristics
Many individuals have different features that range from horns to spiked bones protruding from their heads. Generally seen as a favorable trait so long as it does not intervene with their daily functions in a negative way.
Average Intelligence
Lizardfolk are often thought to be more intelligent than man because their young will learn to speak at a younger age, typically around the first three years. However, by the time either species has reached age 10 their intelligence levels are quite comparable to each other.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
The same five senses of humans. Lizardfolk can smell extra well, especially when using their tongues to assist.
Civilization and Culture
Beauty Ideals
More colorful or vibrantly colored lizards are considered more attractive. Morphs are often considered extremely beautiful.
Gender Ideals
The tentacle-like appendages "Hair" of the lizards are often the first step to determining gender. Males hair will often grow to the mid of their neck whereas female hair will grow down to their shoulder blades. Males with long hair or females with short hair are considered anomalies and are often prejudiced against.
Average Technological Level
Like man, they are within the iron age. Creating and using weapons, armor, transportation, and tools from iron.
Common Dress Code
The groin area is the only section that is considered nudity when revealed. Female lizardfolk do not have breasts so there is no social norm for females to wear shirts
Interspecies Relations and Assumptions
Generally lizardfolk see themselves as equals with other species. They are open to trade and mingle with other species without prejudice.
Although very, very rare, lizardfolk can have relationships with other species.
Lifespan
60 years
Average Height
85 cm/6'1"
Average Weight
53kg/160lbs
Average Physique
Lizardfolk are not known to become overweight or obese. They can range from being quite thin to quite muscular.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Scales cover the entire bodies of this species, and will quite often be colored brown, green, or gray with secondary colors of brown, black, green, and orange. The scales on their bodies can also make up various different patterns. The more colorful races that come in red, blue, or other colors, as well as those with more intricate color patterns are generally seen as more attractive. Very rarely, roughly 1 in 500 lizardfolk born will be a morph, where their colors or scale patterns are wildly different, often vibrant colors and wild patterns.

As much as I would love to say this is my own, it's actually a discarded sketch a friend of mine drew that she didn't want. So I put it to use! Thanks!
