Honu and Vonu

Honu and Vonu are the legendary first horizonbacks. Tortle‌ lore says Vonu laid her eggs on Honu's back since there was no land. She laid so many eggs that the effort killed her. Honu laid her to rest and her shell became what is now called Azmayne. Honu's ears are the source of all freshwater. He then placed all the eggs along the shores of Vonu's shell, and ascended into the sky, becoming the sun to provide warmth and comfort to all his children. He placed a piece of Vonu's shell in the sky, which became the moon, so that she too could shine on her children.

It is said that the eggs hatched in various generations: the first became the smaller continents and large island. the second became the @horizonbacks, the largest of which eventually stop swimming and become islands. the third are the first tribes of @Tortle
