Patrols report that masses of Shalador citizens continue to migrate north. Many of them appear to believe the stories of long-gone civilizations being attacked by some aquatic force. If any attempted to venture into Phyondal, I might posit that they could be spies, taking advantage of the supposed exodus to lower our guard. However, none have come anywhere close to our border. They have given us no threat or hassle; the people migrating appear to be regular citizens, not armies mobilizing for battle.
Personal addendum:
I’m surprised to see so many people believing the tales. I have considered there could be some truth to them, but I wouldn’t uproot my entire life for a fable. I suppose I have the benefit of living in Phyondal, and the weave at my fingertips, so fear is more foreign to me.
Speaking of magic, the mirror portal seems to have a glitch. It’s supposed to test a person’s past as a way to verify their intentions, and slow down invaders. When I last stepped through, I saw something else, though- my mother. She died when I was very young, and I don’t remember what she looked like, yet somehow I recognized her in the mirror. It was strange, bittersweet. I have half a mind not to report this malfunction, in the chance of seeing her again.
