Labyrinth - Parvik, the one who bought time

Text

We honor the mightiest heroes among us with stone statues, that the strength of this earthen form will immortalize them for their efforts. Those that pay homage to these unforgettable legends with a recitation of name and title shall be bestowed a gift.   It is not easy to give one’s life for one’s people. From the perspective of the self, it is a matter of many things: love, that one values their kind enough to risk oblivion’s embrace; trust, that the opportunity bought by one’s efforts will be seized; confidence, that one will succeed in their last duty. We honor all the thousands of our people that have raised arms to protect our home, but in particular we honor Parvik, who led her legion (and the fiends that foolishly followed) to provide the diversion that allowed the central citadel to be sealed. As a master illusionist, her one legion fought as three, and the horn-kind wasted months in the meandering halls of the Labyrinth. Many of her soldiers even escaped to tell of her tactical mastery, but she was never found thereafter. Without her bravery, our home surely would have been a warzone, rather than a haven for our families and the Capsule.   [The thri-kreen statue near this plaque has a damaged inscription at its base: “Parvik, …….. who bought time.”]
