We shouldn’t have trusted the fountains. Kiv’dar sipped from one, and gained power from it. But when Ch’prah drank from a different one, she fell violently ill. If only our antidotes hadn’t been shattered by that blasted rock trap earlier, we could have saved her. Screw the mazefolk and their tricks, they have more innocent blood on their hands than they will ever know. The Capsule at the center of the Labyrinth better be worth all this risk, toil, and sacrifice.
I can’t help but feel partially responsible. We saw a skeleton a while ago by a different fountain, and we just assumed it was poisoned. We thought Kiv’dar was insane for trying the second one, but it turned out to be beneficial…? How would the mazefolk know which ones to use? Kiv’dar’s fountain had a carving of a cloud, while Ch’prah’s had a sculpture of a lantern. Maybe there’s some theme, maybe related to spirits? Or artificial creations? Except, what if their lost children were about to drink from the fountain… surely it must be something more obvious?
