Safety and Etiquette

This campaign is an inclusive, safe, and collaborative environment. Failure to uphold these tenets may result in ejection from the campaign.

Safety and Inclusion

Players of any kind can join the campaign. Discrimination may sometimes appear as a theme within the game world, but it will not be tolerated at the table in any form. Keep your jokes tasteful and be respectful to your fellow players and their characters.   This campaign is a safe environment. Some themes that appear within the fictional world may be uncomfortable or upsetting to some players. Evil NPCs might engage in some such behaviors during gameplay. If there are topics that you are not comfortable roleplaying or witnessing in-game, including the ones listed below, please alert the DM privately in advance so that those topics can be avoided. Here are some well-known unsafe topics, and how they will be handled in this campaign:
  • Racism, sexism and other forms of discrimination. Discrimination is frowned upon throughout Archestria, but some NPCs may carry prejudiced beliefs. These topics will appear in the game world, but should never be used in an out-of-game context.
  • Sexual encounters. Consensual sexual encounters are acceptable within the campaign, but will not be roleplayed or described in detail.
  • Rape. Forced sexual encounters will not appear in this campaign in any fashion. Unsavory NPCs might make sexual comments towards PCs on rare occasion.
  • Slavery. Slavery is considered an evil practice throughout Archestria, and might be employed by some evil NPCs.
  • Violence. D&D was designed as a combat-focused game; something will die in nearly every mission. The DM may use somewhat detailed descriptions of gore to enhance the game experience or provide important details to an investigation.
  • Torture. Torture will be avoided, but might occur in rare circumstances by the worst villains. Torture scenes will not be described in detail, and will likely be handled with a quick die roll.
  • Phobias. Plenty of common phobias will appear in the campaign. If you have a fear that you don't want to confront during the game, inform the DM in advance.

Collaboration and PvP

D&D adventures are a team effort. Playing the game in a way that detracts from the fun of others at the table is not acceptable. While player versus player interactions are not strictly prohibited in this campaign, they should be avoided in nearly all cases. Actions that are outright hostile to other players (stealing, attacking, sabotaging) should not be performed unless it is clear that the affected player is okay with it.   There may be in-game circumstances where a player is forced to engage in pvp interactions, such as being mind control by an NPC or being forced to take an action to fulfill a deal or pact. These situations necessitate an exception to collaboration rules, but can still lead to uncomfortable situations during the session. D&D is not a social deduction game- players will almost never be asked to keep treacherous secrets from other players. If a PC is forced to betray the party, players can choose to temporarily relinquish partial or full control of their character to the DM, as the actions taken are not their fault, but the fault of an NPC. Any antagonism from these situations should always be directed at the fictional villains responsible.   All safety & conduct rules apply to all participants in the game, including Dungeon Masters. Please inform the DM/admin of any issues you experience with other participants.
