Silkroot

Silkroot is a rare plant that is known and used as a drug. Secret farms harvest its buds to be ground and burned in smoking pipes. It functions as a stimulant that can temporarily improve the energy, mood, and reflexes of those who use it. Silkroot is addictive, however, and can eventually eat through the stomach of those who use it.

It is illegal to grow, possess, and consume silkroot in all major civilized regions except for Drymond and the Spiritwood. Its use is generally considered a tame crime, however; many people use it just off the beaten path of public places with no hassle. The drug's negative reputation comes partially from its use in The Bazen War, where Bazen soldiers were commanded to use it to enhance their fighting prowess despite the cost to their minds and bodies.
