The Ark

The Ark is a sanctuary for beasts and other domesticated creatures. It is owned and managed by Val and Soonie and is located in a clearing in Kazzin Forest. A tent stands on the edge of the clearing beside a cozy smoldering fire pit made of haphazardly arranged stones. A small blackberry bush keeps watch for visitors.

Mount/Companion Rental Service

The Ark provides a service to adventurers from @salmu: many of its creatures can be borrowed as mounts or companions during a mission. The list of available creatures is maintained in this spreadsheet. Each creature must consent to join the character; an animal handling check is required in order to convince a mount to join your character for one mission. The DC and minimum character level required for each mount is listed in the spreadsheet. Creatures return to the Ark at the end of the adventure.

Adopting a Creature

Characters can convince a mount to permanently become their companion. At the end of a mission where the creature accompanied the character, the character can attempt an animal handling check of DC (creature base) + 10 - (5 * number of prior sessions with that creature), befriending the creature on a success.

Downtime Action: Quality Time

For 5 downtime days, a character can spend time interacting with a particular species. Doing so grants advantage on animal handling checks for that members of that species in the Ark.

Great Responsibility

If a character has a creature from the Ark (rented or adopted) and the creature is lost or killed, that character is permanently banned from ever using the Ark's services.
