Station Sigma
Station Sigma is the largest mining station in existence. It orbits an uninhabited planet currently being mined for resources, and functions as the base of operations for the miners. The station also houses a variety of merchants and traders, looking to sell their wares to miners with hazard pay burning a hole in their pockets.
Government
Station Sigma lies in murky legal waters. Technically the Sigma Foundation, proprietor of Station Sigma, is based from Ithamar and therefore under the jurisdiction of Ithamari law. In practice, however, the station is patrolled and policed by private security hired by the Foundation, and is too distant from Ithamar to get any real police presence.
Defences
The station is well supplied with powerful, though somewhat outdated, heavy weapons capable of destroying anything from an asteroid to a hostile fleet. It also has a small fleet of fighters that can be deployed for defense. The station has weathered a few attacks from pirates over the years, but has managed to fend all off without much trouble. The station's heavy weapons have only been needed once, to knock an asteroid rich in metals into the surface of the mining planet so the metals could be extracted.
History
Station Sigma was constructed by the Sigma Foundation as a mobile mining station, which could be moved in pieces or in whole from one mining operation to the next. It has been used as the home base for mining operations on three different planets, moving on to the next once the resources have been extracted from a mining planet.
What began as a simple mining operation has since transformed into a bustling trade station, despite it's extreme isolation. The station requires a constant stream of food and supplies to keep it running, which a number of merchant fleets are happy to provide.
Due to its isolation, powerful defenses, and large multinational population, Station Sigma has long been a place for people who don't want to be found.

Cool article. Is the planet also having intraterrestrials creatures/faunas that the security need to fend off from time to time as well, or is the place mostly barren of life ? Happy Summercamp ! :)
Thanks for the feedback! The idea was for the station to mine empty planets with no life whatsoever, so they don't have to worry about environmental impact and stuff like that, but maybe at some point they have mined a planet that has simpler life forms, I'll consider it
