Twymin

The Twymin system is now nothing more than cosmic dust and vapor, drifting outwards from the white dwarf remains of the star that betrayed it. Long ago, however, the system bore a pale blue sun and her dazzling array of planets, among them the humid and verdant world of Thyor.

Thyor
Geographic Location | May 13, 2019
Thyor was a rather small terran planet that orbited its brilliant blue-white sun, Twymin, in fifth order. Thyor was warm, humid, and wet, with much of the planet’s surface occluded by vast expanses of cloud cover. Thyor’s predominant biomes were lush swamp and dense jungle. Due to an intense greenhouse effect, Thyor completely lacked polar ice caps, though the global sea helped to more evenly distribute the heat of the sweltering equatorial sun.

The lone race of telepaths to ever inhabit the cosmos, now lost to the sands of time.

The planet Thyor was the birthplace of the Thyorans, a voiceless people who communicated via an innate network of quantum telepathy. Though they were brilliant beings, the concept of language was strange to them, which made for a curious set of first contact events with the Aehr at the dawn of the Third Cycle. The Thyorans were an amicable, if reclusive, people, and rarely (if ever) ventured outside their system. Alas, this peaceful hermitage did not last.

Death of Twymin

Many millions of cycles ago, the star Twymin –a blue-white giant– reached the end of its natural main sequence, threatening its substellar companions. At the time, it was not possible to delay the death of the star, nor was it possible to move the Twyminese worlds elsewhere, as had been done in the case of Mar Prime. Hence began the evacuation of Thyor: the first of several planetary-scale exodi in galactic history. A one-to-one scale topographical replica of Thyor was meticulously constructed as one of the rings of the Ringstar megastructure, and it was to this replica that Thyor was evacuated.   The former inhabitants of Thyor lived on their Ring in peace for thousands of cycles, until the war with the Khraakgn Imperium reached its height. In the closing cycle of the war, a covert operation orchestrated by the Empire instigated a chain reaction within the Star itself, destroying it and all of its rings –and annihilating the legacy of the Thyoran biosphere.
