Guild Union of Triarch
The Guild Union of Triarch is the confederation overseeing the various merchant, professional, and craftwork guilds of Triarch and its sphere. Officially, it is a union of the masters of each separate guild, rather than of its many members. It came to its current prominence over the last three centuries with the economic maneuvering of these masters, whose collective wealth, drawn from their various trade guilds, functioned as an investment bank for nobility, landed gentry, and even commoners successful enough to accumulate enough wealth to justify the investment fees.
In recent decades, the union has established itself as a political power, earning a full royal charter from the Crown of Medheva in 3012. However, in 3146, long-simmering tensions with the crown erupted into open rebellion, with the Union and its paid mercenaries wresting control of the ancient city of Triarch from the King of Medheva.
Structure
The Masters of the various trade guilds of Triarch and its hinterlands have mutual peer status in the Union. Every five years, they elect a union grand master, treasurer, and bailiff, who oversee the shared resources and manpower of the confederacy.
