Watcher
Aegis against the Shadow
For millennia, Arda has been infiltrated and invaded by extraplanar forces. Among the most powerful and menacing of these outsiders are the Shadow and those who worship it. After many defeats and losses at the hands of the Shadow and its worshipers, the peoples of Arda have learned from the mistakes of the past, returning wiser and more powerful than ever. While the Shadow has been exiled from Arda for now, its wicked minions remain, and plot the return of their indomitable leader. Those who have sworn themselves to watch and seek out Shadow worshipers are known as watchers, and are one of Arda's first line of defense against the Shadow.
The Watchers are themselves a larger organization in the Enlightened Kingdom, those who have sought to uproot and challenge the scattered Shadow-loyalists in their lands. Yet, with the rise of Shadow-worship in other lands, many have left the Kingdom to offer their services. Others still have even began to pass on their skills to another generation of watchers throughout Arda.
At 3rd level, the watcher gains Favored Judgment as a bonus feat but must choose Shadow-aligned, outsider (chaotic) or outsider (evil). At 9th level, she gains Favored Judgment as a bonus feat a second time and must choose Shadow-aligned, outsider (chaotic) or outsider (evil).
This ability replaces the teamwork feats gained at 3rd and 9th level.
A watcher reduces the amount of bonus damage dealt when using her bane ability against creatures that are not outsiders with the chaotic or evil subtype by 1d6. She increases the amount of bonus damage by 1d6 when she selects Shadow-aligned or outsiders with the chaotic or evil subtype.
This ability modifies the bane ability.
At 16th level, a watcher using judgment can unleash the verdict of exile on a creature. When she does, her judgment ends, but the creature subject to that judgment is dazed for 1 round (Will negates, DC of 10 + 1/2 inquisitor level + Wisdom bonus). If the creature is Shadow-aligned or an outsider, the Shadow-aligned creature or the outsider is affected by dismissal (Will negates). This ability replaces third judgment.
A watcher must close off her soul and mind to deny her enemies even a foothold. At 17th level, the inquisitor becomes immune to necromancy effects, compulsion effects and possession attempts (including magic jar).
This ability replaces slayer.
