Calendar of Arda

The calendar of Arda is focused around 12 full moon months while seasonal celebrations are centered around the path of the sun. The Goddess of Anar (the sun) is Ariel, Queen of fire spirits. The God of Isil (the moon) is Tilion, Hunter of Orome   Each month begins with the New Moon and ends with the Dark Moon.   The year begins with the Blessing Moon: the New Moon following Samhain (the first moon of Winter). It ends with the last light of the Spirit Moon.   The eight Wheel festivals mark the turning of the seasons. While they will have different regional focus, they universally mark the seasons as follows:   • The two solstices mark the shortest and longest days of the year and the two equinox are when day and night are equal. These four days are the peak of seasonal tides.   • The four days that mark the midpoints between solstice and equinox are the liminal times when one season gives way to the next.
