She was taken as a hostage after Prince Ruark surrendered the crown to his half-brother Bethraal the Beloved at the end of the Fourth Brothers Rebellion, and raised in the Hostly faith. Many consider this a direct attempt to eliminate the Deinain witchcraft in the family thought to have originated with Queen Tarana Dorn, Ruark's mother.
