Arrival in Callrenas Report

General Summary

The group arrived in Callrenas (finally), finding themselves escorted to the Sablekeep by Scrollcloaks, powerful guards that serve the Erudite Archmages of Lanador. Inside the Sablekeep, they talked with Erudite Archmage Jalhannis Iurim. While their conversation mainly accomplished to irritate Jalhannis, he still tasked the group with solving the murder of Rakkien, the red dragonborn that Oliver had sold the item he stole to, and subsequently finding the item. In this conversation, they learned that Jalhannis Iurim has ordered his own men not to inspect the murder since he wants the investigation to remain completely off-the-books. They then investigated the crime scene in which Rakkien's body had been magically preserved upon the finding of his death. Inside of the room, they noticed that Rakkien's neck smelled of lavender, as well as finding a letter addressed to Rakkien hidden inside the walls. The letter was signed by an individual by the name of M. The letter talked of someone by the name of the Red Mask as well as dropping the name of the Iron Ring. Not knowing what or who any of these things were, they were given limited access to a government library of records, where they found out that the Red Mask was a highly dangerous and mysterious assassin, and that the Iron Ring is an incredibly secretive criminal syndicate of some kind.

The group has been tasked with finding the person responsible for murdering Rakkien and finding the item that was stolen from him.
