Bantar Jungle

The Bantar Jungle is the largest jungle in the world, even larger than the Caltathui Rainforest. It dominates central and southern Balukthur, and much of it remains unexplored to this day. This is mainly due to the dangers that the jungle poses, as well as the general difficulty of the terrain and the impossibility of resupplying while traveling through the jungle. Several large expeditions have been mounted to explore it, but none were successful. Half of them never came back, and the others turned back after mere days of travel. The farthest anyone has ventured into it is approximately a week's journey south from the border of Bakaal.

Geography

Much of the geography of the region is unknown, mostly due to the lack of proper exploration in the area. However, it is known that there is a large mountain range that travels through it, with the southern section of it being made of highly active volcanoes. The majority of the jungle lies between the Nalguan Peninsula and this volcanic mountain range, known as the Baruan Mountains.

Fauna & Flora

The level of biodiversity within the Bantar Jungle is generally unknown, once again due to the lack of exploration within it. Many of the plants and animals that call it home can best be described as cousins to their counterparts in the Caltathui Rainforest. This is with the exception (as far as is known) of the abundance of mobile carnivorous vegetation. There are also rumours, mostly within Bakaal, of massive, ferocious reptiles hidden deep within the jungle. None of these rumours have ever been confirmed, despite numerous attempts at either proving or disproving by the scientific community of Balukthur.
