Common

Common is a relatively old language with a very interesting history. It is unique in that it is the only widely spoken created language. It was invented during the beginning of the Great Desolation. It incorporated the most recognizable and simplest features of as many of the widely spoken languages as possible, making it relatively easy and intuitive for nearly the entire global population to learn. The hope was that, by creating a language that was by nature international and cross-cultural, it would become easier for the many different peoples of Ardrim to communicate and coordinate their military efforts. Over the centuries, it would become a language spoken almost universally for trade and communication purposes. There are very few peoples of the known world that are not at least conversationally fluent in Common.
