Hearthglen is a marvel of resilience and adaptability, its steadily rising foundations a testament to the ingenuity of its people. 54 years ago, the town begin to rise out of the ground at an incredibly slow rate. However, as time has passed, it has left a crater where it once laid on the ground. It has robust stone walls that tower high, the city stands as a bastion amid the shifting landscapes of rolling hills, mountains, and Winterwoods. Its cobblestone streets bustle with activity, echoing with the clinks and clatters of the blacksmith's anvil, the mason's chisel, and the lively chatter of its people. At a glance, it is a city like any other, but in Hearthglen, one can literally feel the pulse of the land and the vibrancy of life moving upwards, slowly but steadily, toward the heavens. It is a city that rises to the challenge, quite literally, and in doing so, captivates the heart of every visitor with its charm and resilience.

Government

The city is governed by a Lord Mayor, appointed every six years, and a council of representatives from the various guilds and factions within the city.

Defences

Hearthglen, owing to its location near the Winterwoods, has fortified its defenses against potential threats that could emerge from the vast snowy forest. The city has an imposing wall of stone and iron, strengthened by magic from the resident wizards, that encircles the entire city. Inside the city, there is a standing militia known as the Hearthglen Guardians. Trained in the mountainous terrain to the west, they are skilled in combating potential threats in the city's diverse surrounding geography.

Industry & Trade

Hearthglen boasts a vibrant trade culture, due to its location near various natural resources. The city is known for its fine craftsmanship in metalwork and stone sculpture, thanks to the mountain range to its west. The rolling hills to the east are covered in vineyards that produce a unique wine, highly sought after in Aethoria and beyond.

Infrastructure

Hearthglen is ingeniously constructed to gradually rise with the land. Buildings have expandable bases and the city's roads and walls are continuously adjusted. The city's infrastructure is robust and well-maintained, featuring wide cobbled streets, an efficient aqueduct system, and a magic-enhanced sewage system.

The city is divided into various districts including the artisans' district, the vineyards, the residential area, the market district, and the military district. Each district has been designed to slowly elevate over time.

Hearthglen was established about 300 years ago, but it wasn't until 54 years ago that the ground started its gradual rise. Scholars believe that the phenomenon may be the result of an ancient Earth Elemental lying dormant beneath the city. The event has had a significant impact on the city's architecture and culture.
