The settlement started as a scouting Outpost, to investigate the lands south of the northreners border, Sending expert scouting groups on mountain goats along the Mons turn. When the White houses was founded this was the location where the great army assembled and it worked as the major command centre during the war. This meant that the city quickly grew huge in size and became a major power, but after the war the great army was not needed meaning the many encampment that the city consisted of became useless, as after 15 years, remnands of these can still be found. The settlement has kept a decent size and is now more focused on diplomatic action to the south and negotiating trade across the Dreyrugr Border.    

Global knowledge

Standavoll is very well known within the north for its war effort in the short time it has excisted. Though the war the city was founded to run had run its course to a mass defeat after a few year the town took a heavy downfall in influense. Now this settlement sits at the border protecting settlement, and keeper of the northren side of the Mons turn. in recent years there has been talk of opening up the border, allowing for a possible revitalization of the town by running land driven trade across the border.    

Social

In Standavoll, the social life revolves around a blend of military and trade culture. The city's roots as a military outpost have shaped its social dynamics, and although it has transitioned to include more trade, the militaristic atmosphere still persists. The people of Standavoll have a strong drinking culture, with large barracks serving as patron sleep areas and numerous bars where brawling and contests are encouraged. The city hosts frequent social events, such as feasts and political gatherings, where the population gathers to celebrate or engage in formal discussions.   The cliff courses An intense obstacle up in the mountainous cliff sides, used when the military were training infiltration maneuvers. Often this course is used for challenges, military tests, or events. Now there is more nets installed to increase the safety of the course, additionally extra paths than originally.   Mons Buck A tavern placed on the highest point, they pride on the greatest view and the best place to drink. It takes a slight climb to get to the tavern, but for the way down there is a pulley array using some hanging weights to slow down the decent and pull back the elevator. No room are available, but the owners do store people who are too drunk to take down the elevator. The building is fully made from local Pine logs bored into the mountain rock. There is a balcony that is hanging over the cliff edge, here there is a great view overlooking the full city. Inside there is several chandeliers hanging from the ceiling made out of wax and antlers.   Jarls cellar One of the nicer taverns that also provide supply for the Jarls and formal events. They always supply the great hall at feasts or political events. The tavern has tree major sections, one for warehouses and transportation of good, one for table arrangements to have formal dinners, and one for general drinking with a broader clientele.   The Jolly brawler This tavern is tended towards the low-income clientele, where people come to have some ale and drink/brawl with fellows. In one end of the tavern there is a sand box for brawling where betting is encouraged, where the bar takes a 10th of the winnings. It is expected to see bawls breaking out within the table arrangements as well, here it is accepted, the only restriction is payment for the broken furniture. As there is an abundance of furniture from the decrease of the city population, meaning replacements are fairly cheap.   ǫlr Barracks Building left after the northern conquest. This building was meant to host hundreds of soldiers in uniform small rooms, a few rooms combined make more space for some for more valuable ranked members: Majors, Lieutenants, Officers ect. There is a small hang out room with sofas and games but only used by the guests. Here it is cheap to rent a room, and they can be rent at longer spans of time as well up to a year.   Pool of Rän This is a natural spring formed from collecting mountain rivers. There are several Nordic carvings along one of the mountain walls, few sculptures, and a small waterfall. Nearby there is also a sauna room and showers.   Jotumboen A large building on the second level of the city, containing larger rooms meant for giant folk in the war efforts. Though since they are no longer here it has become an inn, run by an Albino Orc, named Thun’na-ar. Much of the furniture is large and cumbersome ad it was meant for giant, but there is plenty of space for a normal humanoid (many of the furniture has been cut down in size to accommodate humanoids.   Elvaries brewery Selling special potions from all over the land. Tralld, was once a helper of a strong Hag who forced him into helping her potion brewing in exchange for healing his mother, after years a revengeful dwarf came to kill her, she got heavily wounded allowing for Tralld to escape. His mother had unfortunately died, so instead he made a shop in her name. Here he brews many different potions using unique methods.   Steinn menagerie Drug and other thing from the south. In an old barrack building, repurposed to the café, stained glass windows with sword iconography. Inside there is colorful pillows arranged everywhere, a purple ever light is illuminating everything, you can buy different smokes that will grant short trips and bleed out colorful smoke. Has a secret trade of valuable gems for arcane purpose, is starting up trade directly from the shaded savanna.  

Politics

Standavoll is governed by the Bargbo family, who are the Jarls of the city. The Bargbo family's lineage can be traced back to the original leader who founded the settlement. The current leaders are Eval Bargbo and Ingil Bargbo, with Eval being a cousin of the previous leader a military commander. The Jarls have their own large estate in the city and play a significant role in shaping its political landscape. The Stórrsalr “greathall” is a old military command center has been repurposed into a political building where important decisions and negotiations take place, the building has a fenced in courtyard where several other buildings reside, often used for diplomatic action and the area has access to a separate private exit of the city.  

Economic

Standavoll is strategically positioned at the border, serving as a protectorate settlement and playing a crucial role in maintaining security in the region. In recent years, there have been discussions about opening up the border for land-driven trade, which has the potential to revitalize the city's economy. Gull Hall, located near the city entry on the lower level, is where many economic decisions and investment opportunities are discussed. Additionally, the city houses the Kin Bank, which utilizes an old underground weapons storage as a bank vault, accessible only by a lowered crane.  

Religion

The city's primary god of worship is Týr, chosen due to the emphasis on honor in warring conquest during the city's foundation. The Church of Týr is a magnificent stone structure with sharp, tall spires, a bell tower, and smaller side structures. Weekly contests are held on the Fourth day to demonstrate the participants' worth to Týr. On the last day of the month, these contests culminate in a challenge to become the champion of Týr. The challenges typically involve multiple disciplines, including the Log challenge, the Wroll, the Death Course, and the Ring of Týr.    

Military

The military in Standavoll has undergone significant changes since its founding. Once a formidable force, the army has now diminished, with the departure of giant kin, Nordic raiders, and their great beasts. However, one specialized unit called the Staþa remains—their primary function is scouting along the Mons Turn using giant goat riders. The Staþa Barracks, situated on the first level of the city, houses the remaining soldiers and the stables for their giant goats. Most of the old weapons have been stored inside the mountain, but a weapons depot remains in the barrack, which is guarded at all times. The city also has a dedicated building on the first level that serves as the main office for policing, ensuring law and order within the settlement. It is located in close proximity to Voll Hull, the city's prison, which is situated inside a hole in the mountain.  

Key Characters:

  Eval Bargbo: A member of the Bargbo family and one of the current Jarls of Standavoll. Eval is a military cousin of the previous leader and plays a vital role in the city's political affairs.   Ingil Bargbo: Another member of the Bargbo family, Ingil serves as one of the Jarls of Standavoll. Their influence and decisions significantly impact the city's governance.   Thun'na-ar: An Albino Orc who runs the Jotumboen inn on the second level of the city. The inn was originally meant to accommodate giant folk during the war but has been repurposed to cater to regular humanoids.   Tralld: The owner of Elvaries Brewery, known for selling special potions from various regions. Tralld has a unique backstory involving a strong Hag and a revengeful dwarf, which led to the establishment of the brewery in honor of Tralld's deceased mother.   The head véurrsage: Located in the Burl Tower on one of the mountain peaks, the head sage focuses on studying the fusion of runic and arcane magic. They play a pivotal role in magical research and advising the city on matters of mystical importance.    

Key Buildings:

  Stórrsalr "Greathall": Originally a large military command center, Stórrsalr now serves as a political building and features numerous rooms for planning, tactics, and a vast library. It is an oval-shaped structure with two floors, primarily accessible to authorized personnel. Scholars who work in the library often reside in the back buildings.   Church of Týr: A magnificent stone structure with sharp spires, a bell tower, and smaller side structures. This grand church hosts weekly contests and challenges related to the worship of Týr, with the Ring of Týr being a significant event to determine the champion of the god.   Gull Hall: Located near the city entry on the lower level, Gull Hall is a building where major economic decisions and investment opportunities are discussed. It serves as a hub for trade and commerce within Standavoll.   Kin Bank: Utilizing an underground weapons storage as a vault, the Kin Bank is accessible only through a lowered crane. It safeguards valuable assets and plays a vital role in the city's economic infrastructure.   Staþa Barracks: This major barracks houses the remaining soldiers of Standavoll's military, the Staþa. It also serves as the stables for their giant goats and contains a weapons depot, which is always guarded.   Voll Hull: Situated inside a hole in the mountain, Voll Hull functions as the city's prison. It is used to confine individuals who have committed crimes or pose a threat to the community.
