War of the Red Moons
Draconis' Dragon Riders were well trained in fighting mortal foes of the material plane, but while the Dragons knew the ferocity of their foes, the humans were broken by the encounter. Zehk Naerun gushed from the artificial night, obliterating the mortals, and so the battle began. The Zehk had not anticipated fierce resistance, as Draconis had hidden the fact that he had travelled to Aresa from his fellow Infinite Ones. A skirmishing party of 10,000 was pitted against 2,000 adult dragons, and ruin was left in their wake. The Deadlands had been barren before the war, but entire islands sank as dragons and demons committed torturous acts upon each other. Death magic could not fell the dragons, but fire could not incinerate Naerun. As the patron gods of each race settled upon the ground, Aresa shuddered. A confrontation of this magnitude had not occurred for eons, and yet it seemed no one remained to bear witness. The coastline of Gothafak trembled, and the earth itself gave way, gaping chasms rending towns as Zehk and Draconis traded blows. It was not until both fighting forces and been annihilated in the crossfire that the two beings paused, and a truce was formed.
Plot points/Scenes
1: The preparation of the defenses.
The dragon riders were told only that their foes were of power rivaling that of their mounts. Their defenses were magical in nature, runes laid upon the ground to detonate once the inhuman came within proximity. They had thought their foes would emerge from below, as the old tales of 'demons' had told them that hell lay below their beautiful world, so they paid no mind the shooting stars approaching from above until it was too late.
2: The minions fight.
The dragon riders were human, and vulnerable. Upon impact, the Naerun sought out the life in the areas and absorbed it for themselves, and the Dragons and Naerun fought for control of the region. The traps laid by the humans did little, as both species were inherently resistant to magic, and The Naerun swarm began overtaking the fewer numbers of the Dragons.
3: The overlords approach.
While dragons are colossal in size, Draconis is gargantuan. More than ten times the size of the largest dragon in the area, his approach scattered the clouds in the area, and Naerun and Dragons alike fled, fearing for their existences. As night fell, it grew pitch black, as Zehk emerged from his Shadowrealm, eager to attempt to overthrow his nemesis. Aresa was engulfed in a prolonged night, as Zehk's very presence refused the light of the fragile sun.
4: The Infinite Duel
Draconis assumed his humanoid form, a giant figure wielding a sword-spear and wearing scaled armor. His aura of light penetrated the darkness, revealing the temporarily corporeal form of Zehk, an amalgamation of the corpses of the battle wielding a greatsword. Each blow traded damaged his form, and yet he persisted, simply using the fresh corpses of his minions to repair the makeshift avatar. Draconis fought with his typical skill, though his armor was badly damaged by Zehk's treacherous magics.
5: A Truce is Found
After a week of combat, both infinite ones found their avatars exhausted. Draconis recognized Zehk's demands, and fled to his fortress in Fellak, relinquishing his duties as aide for the Imperiate Empire. Zehk retreated to his realm once more, preparing his next scheme and preparing a more durable avatar for his next excursion.
