Fortune's Edge
Objective:
The objective of Fortune's Edge is to predict the sum value of the five cards drawn by the dealer. Players place bets, aiming to make the closest prediction without exceeding it. The player with the closest guess wins the round.Players:

Gameplay:
Dealer Selection:
Determine the first dealer by any agreed-upon method (e.g., random selection or rotating turns).Betting Phase:
- The dealer takes five cards from the deck and keeps them hidden from the players.
- The dealer then places three of their cards face up for all players to see.
- Players place their bets on what they think the sum total of the five cards will be, without exceeding it. This is done before the last two cards are revealed. Each player should announce their bet at the same time, vocally or in writing.
Card Reveal:
- The dealer reveals the final cards from their hand, completing the set of five cards.
- The value of the final two cards is compared to the bets placed by the players.
Determining the Winner:
- The player whose bet is closest to the value of the sum total of all five cards without exceeding it wins the round.
- If multiple players have the closest guess without exceeding the value, the pot is split among them.
- If all bets exceed the value of the sum of the cards, the dealer wins.
Pot Distribution:
The winner(s) receive the gold from the betting pot.Dealer Rotation:
The role of the dealer rotates clockwise to the next player, and a new round begins.End of the Game:
- Fortune's Edge can be played for a predetermined number of rounds, and the player with the most gold at the end is declared the overall winner.
- Alternatively, the game can be played for a set duration, and the player with the highest accumulated score at the end wins.
History
Fortune's Edge is a favorite game among mercenaries. It originates from Ferrostone in The Dominion of Arkanmere but has since spread across the globe.
