Schtre (SHTREH)

Objective:

The objective of Schtre is to roll one of each kind of die (D4, D8, D10, D12, and D20) and accumulate the highest score possible without exceeding 30 points. The player with the highest total score, staying within the limit, at the end of all the rounds is the victor.

Players:

  • 2 or more players

Equipment:

  • Four-sided (D4) die
  • Eight-sided (D8) die
  • Ten-sided (D10) die
  • Twelve-sided (D12) die
  • Twenty-sided (D20) die
  • A scoring sheet or pen and paper to keep track of scores
  • A pot of chips or currency for betting

Gameplay:

  • Schtre is played over a series of rounds, with each player taking turns.
  • Players roll one of each kind of die and strategically manage their scores to stay below the limit of 30 points.
  • The player with the highest total score, without exceeding 30 points, at the end of all the rounds is the winner.

Round Structure:

Betting Phase:
  • Each player writes down a secret guess of what they believe the combined total score of all players will be for the round.
  • Once all players have written down their guesses, the guesses are collected.
Roll Phase:
  • On their turn, a player rolls one of each kind of die (D4, D8, D10, D12, and D20).
  • The player should roll all five dice together and obtain one value from each die.
Scoring Phase:
  • After the roll, the player calculates their score based on the sum of the values obtained from each die.
  • The player records their score for the round.
Score Limit:
  • The cumulative score of a player cannot exceed 30 points. If the total score exceeds 30 points in a round, the player receives a penalty of zero points for that round.
Determining the Winner:
  • After the scoring phase, the total score of all players is calculated. Any player whose guess in the Betting Phase was below or equal to the actual total score is eligible to win.
Closest Guess Wins the Pot:
  • Among the eligible players, the player whose guess is closest to the actual total score without going over wins the pot of chips or currency.
  • In the event of a tie, the pot can be split among the players with the closest guesses.

Round End:

After determining the winner, the next player takes their turn, and a new round begins.

End of the Game:

  • The game continues for a predetermined number of rounds, typically determined by the players before starting the game.
  • At the end of the final round, the player with the highest total score is declared the winner and awarded the pot.
