Military action
A titanic clash between the undead forces of one of Magiarr's former champions, now called the King-eater, and the Ilíos-inspired forces of the man-turned-demigod, Arkan Blightbane. The war stretched for seventeen years and ended in an unstable stalemate. Imbued with Ilíos' power, Arkan established a heavily militarized line of border forts that stretched from the Rakes all the way to the Witch Tides.
Soon after the corruption began to spread, a powerful champion of Magiarr entered into The Blight in an effort to halt its spread. He was overcome by the corruption, though, and became the King-eater. Under the tutelage of Caedis' devils, the King-eater began to raze villages and kill innocents by the thousands. Using the newfound power granted to him by Caedis, he raised these from the dead and used them to further his goals. Only a few short years after the devastating Divine Crusades, the King-eater's forces overwhelmed the exhausted defenders and swarmed across Verda. Realizing their adopted home was in mortal peril, Ilíos' faction realized they only had one more course of action. They united their power and poured it into a willing champion of Ilíos: Arkan Blightbane. This came at a cost, however. Once their power was pooled, the gods stepped back from the world and focused on inspiring mortals to carry on their work. Under Arkan’s banner, the peoples of Argea marched against the King-eater. After seventeen brutal years of war, the King-eater and his depleted forces retreated deep into the corrupted forest that sprang from Aemulus' grave. Unable to finish the fight, Arkan established a line of forts from the Rakes to the Witch Tides to hem in the evil of The Blight.
